Lead Inspector* – This is a 4-day course designed for professionals seeking to offer Lead Inspection services. It includes: background information on lead and its adverse health effects; how to conduct a lead inspection and identify lead hazards, including sampling of paint, dust, soil and water; professional ethics and liability issues; basic radiation safety; essential maintenance practices, and report preparation. It also covers the OSHA lead in construction standard, personal protective equipment and hygiene practices, and state and federal regulations that apply to lead inspections.

 Lead Risk Assessor* – This is a 2-day course for professionals who have completed the Lead Inspector course and want to develop additional assessment knowledge and skills. Course content includes: risk assessment and risk management, including abatement and interim control methods; substrate and structural integrity assessment; paint compatibility; and essential maintenance practices.

Lead Abatement Worker* and Supervisor* – The 4-day Supervisor course both cover the following topics: background information on lead and its adverse health effects; how to do lead abatement; waste handling and disposal; air and dust sampling; clearance standards; the OSHA lead in construction standard; personal protective equipment and hygiene practices, and state and federal regulations that apply to lead abatements. The Supervisor course also includes training in occupant protection planning; supervisor responsibilities; contractor liability; and report preparation.

* These courses are prerequisites for certification to perform these activities; some disciplines have additional requirements.

Renovation, Repair and Painting Initial (RRP) – This 1-day course is required for those doing renovation, repair and painting work in pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities. It includes information on lead and its health effects, lead-safe work practices, information distribution to building owners/occupants and recordkeeping requirements. It also covers state and federal regulations that apply to renovation, repair and painting in pre-1978 housing.
This course meets the training requirements of the federal Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule for work beginning on or after April 22, 2010. Successful completion of the course allows renovators to apply for firm certification through the US EPA.
